Led by Indigenous President Evo Morales, Bolivia has drawn up documents to have “Mother Earth” recognized under the same rights as individuals at the United Nations. Such rights would include the right to life, to pure water and clean air.

The ploy is geared at getting the UN to recognize that the planet is a living entity that man has sought to “dominate and exploit”.

According to Britain’s Daily Mail, the treaty is looking to establish 11 new natural rights for the planet that would include: “the right to life and to exist; the right to continue vital cycles and processes free from human alteration; the right to pure water and clean air; the right to balance; the right not to be polluted; and the right to not have cellular structure modified or genetically altered.”
