Eleven-year-old Kwahara:ni Jacobs of Kahnawake took her first step along what could be the road to stardom January 19 when she belted out the U.S. national anthem at the Senators-Bruins game at TD Gardens in Boston.

According to the girl’s mother, Layne Myiow, Kwahara:ni has had a great deal of time getting to know the vocally challenging song as she had been performing it at Bruins alumni games for the past two years. It was at an alumni game that she was first noticed and given the opportunity to sing it at the National Hockey League level.

Myiow said that this was a fantastic moment for her daughter and the family as many of them along with others from their community had traveled to Boston to see Kwahara:ni’s big moment.

“She blew the roof off of TD Garden,” said Myiow of her daughter’s flawless performance.

Jacobs is also known in the community for performing, often with her younger sister, at local events.
