Mistissini’s Osprey Lodge won the bronze medal in the “Lodging: Outfitters” category at the national Grands Prix du tourisme québécois gala that was held in Montreal’s Palais des Congrès May 7. James Bay and Eeyou Istchee was represented by a delegation of 20 people who accompanied the six regional winners.

The Grands Prix du tourisme québécois is dedicated to the tourism industry in Quebec.

This 25th annual celebration of tourism excellence enabled the winners to be honoured by their peers. Organizers say these awards are added proof that the winners’ exceptional efforts and outgoingness have contributed to making Quebec a quality destination.

The distinction of a Grand Prix du tourisme is the mark of a superior level of excellence for Osprey Lodge. This business was able to show how they contributed to the overall improvement of the tourism industry in the James Bay and Eeyou Istchee regions as well as in the province of Quebec.

The Outfitters also displayed their significant advertising efforts on a regional, national and international level.

The Osprey Lodge is expected to benefit from a major exposure campaign that will reach a large number of Quebecers. The publicity campaign will target tourism fans as well as the general public. Laureates will also be presented on the Évasion and TVA television networks, in daily Gesca newspapers, in the Quebec Tourism agenda, in the Quebec Provincial Employees newsletter and on the airwaves of Astral Media radio stations.
