Where to stay in Quebec City

Quebec City is a beautiful place to stay and there are many things for families to do. Recently I stayed at the Hôtel-Musée Premières Nations in Wendake. Upon entering the hotel, we could tell this was a magical and special place. We were welcomed by kind and helpful front desk staff and we went to our large, comfortable and spotless room. We were five people in two adjoining rooms. The kids, five and six, had enough space to be able to run around and have fun, without knocking anything over. Natural wood, animal pelts and small tasteful details, the décor in the room gave us all something to talk about. The sound and view of the rushing river was quite soothing.

I do like a room with space! I was quite impressed when I took a bath and found the tub large enough that I didn’t even have to fill it all the way. Many hotels are too small to make a bath an enjoyable time. The whole bathroom allowed four of us to get ready for an amazing dinner at the restaurant.

The food was amazing! Fresh and creative, the Sunday brunch was a buffet filled with so many different foods. Aside from the usual breakfast fare, there was a variety of traditional food. Home-smoked fish and traditional meats, like bison and wapiti, lots of local cheeses, and a variety of desserts filled my three or four plates up. The place was completely filled up with happy eaters.

In no time at all, we traveled across the city to the Aquarium Park where the polar bears kept us all entertained for at least 30 minutes. We will go back! I was surprised how close the beautiful, quaint town of Wendake was to the main part of Quebec City. It seems really like a suburb. It didn’t take us long to drive to the huge malls. One mall even has an indoor fair with a lot of rides like bumper cars, a carousel, a little train and a lot more.

This summer the boutique hotel is offering tickets to Ozalik, a circus, dance and theatre staged to illustrate the circle of life and sacred fire concept. Worth $30 per person! They are many things to do in and around Wendake all year round. We hope to make it back this summer.
