The following are some abbreviated resolutions from the CNYC’s AGA:

The position of a board member on the Cree Native Youth Council representing the Crees of Senneterre is invalidated and they will not have one until they are interested in having one.

The CNYC is still waiting to hear from the Grand Council of the Crees concerning their request for an annual salary for the Deputy Youth Grand Chief whose first installment is to be paid in April 2013.

The CNYC will consider various options to allow the CNYC to write off the $500,000 debt that they owe to the Cree Heritage Fund from the First World Indigenous Youth Conference

The members hereby express their full support in the fight to increase classes given in the Cree language to at least 50% both in primary and high school.

The CNYC express their wish to bring financial support to each Cree Nation in the organization of canoe trips in Eeyou Istchee in the foreseeable future.

Members of the CNYC wish to see the Youth Grand Chief Joshua Iserhoff start a discussion with the CRA on creating economic programs for the Cree youth.
Full transcripts of the resolutions:

On a motion duly made by Mr. Johnny Mianscum and seconded by Mr. Freddie Dixon, it was resolved that the meeting adopts Resolution AGA1213-04:

WHEREAS the organization Free The Children is the world’s largest network of children helping children through education, with more than one million youth involved in innovative education and development programs in 45 countries;

WHEREAS the primary goals of Free The Children are to free children from poverty and exploitation and free young people from the notion that they are powerless to affect positive change in the world;

WHEREAS Free The Children offers domestic empowerment programs and leadership training;

WHEREAS CNYC wishes to be proactive in the development of educational programs for the youth and in the eradication of poverty in the Eeyou Istchee territory;

WHEREAS it is one of the goal of CNYC to support and partner with other youth organizations;

IT IS RESOLVED:

THAT the members hereby approve that CNYC shall assess the possibility to establish a partnership with Free The Children in order to develop education programs;

THAT every local youth Chiefs shall be responsible to implement the said programs in their respective Cree Nation;

THAT CNYC shall try to obtain the collaboration of the Cree School Board to develop the said programs and to organize fundraising campaigns.
